How To Take Organic Matter Samples

Please collect 8 samples from each putting green with the tubes provided in the sample kit. A 9th tube is included in case of breakage.

Samples should be collected by gently driving the tube completely into the putting green with a rubber mallet. Each tube must contain at least three inches of the putting green profile.

Samples should be taken at least 5 paces apart across the entire putting green.

Please label the bag with the ‘Green Number’ and place end caps onto each tube and all 8 tubes into the same bag for analysis.

The lab will cut the samples into 2cm depths (0-2cm, 2-4 cm, and 4-6 cm) for analysis.

Please fill out the attached worksheet provided and make sure that the Green Number and Course Name match the labels on your bags.

Place all bags with tubes/soil into one box with the attached worksheet and package well to ensure samples do not move freely during shipping.
